When the human population dwindled, the vampires got nervous. Vampires had always been around, living and hunting in the shadows before the virus. In Allison’s world, a plague had wiped out much of humanity. It was tough living but at the same time they felt a certain amount of freedom without the identification markers. But it also meant they didn’t get meal tickets, forcing them to scrounge for food. Being unregistered meant that they didn’t have to pony up their blood at scheduled appointments to feed the vampires.

The Immortal Rules was so unimaginably good, all I wanted to do was jump ahead to read The Eternity Cure.Īllison and her friends grew up as unregistered orphans living in the Fringe, the area surrounding New Convington – a vampire town. I’ve had a very difficult time holding myself back from reading the second novel before I write my review of the first. The second book in the series is scheduled to be released next month and I will be reading and reviewing that book next week. The Immortal Rules is the first in the Blood of Eden series by Julie Kagawa, an established author of young adult novels. When I say this book will blow you away, I mean it. Kagawa nor do I sashay around literary bigwigs with connections.

Don’t mistake my words for polite affection for the author.

I love young adult books because they can be so much fun to read. I’m fairly certain I just found the next big thing in young adult book series.
